Terms of Service
Last updated: 2026-11-02
Kattkompis is a free neighbourhood app where cat owners help each other. By creating an account and using the service you accept these terms. Please also read the privacy policy, which explains how we handle your data.
1. Who runs Kattkompis
The service is run by Kattkompis AB, company registration number 559594-1799, Folkparksvägen 132, 126 77 Hägersten, Sweden. Everything you need to help or get help is free, and every lost-cat alert reaches the same neighbours in the app whether you pay or not. What you can pay for is optional: an ad that spreads a lost-cat alert further (section 8) and supporter membership (section 9). The feed sometimes shows short ads from shops. They are labelled Ad and cost you nothing.
2. Age requirement
You must be at least 18 to create an account and use Kattkompis. By registering you confirm that you meet that requirement.
3. Your account
- You are responsible for keeping your login details to yourself.
- The information in your profile must be true and current.
- One account per person.
- You are responsible for what happens through your account.
- Contact us straight away if you suspect someone else has got into it.
4. What you can do in the app
Kattkompis brings together several ways for neighbours to help each other:
- Cat sitting and other help requests between neighbours.
- Lost-cat alerts, with a map and notifications to people living nearby.
- A directory of private individuals with chip readers who can help scan a cat.
- A feed with posts, comments and reactions.
- Messages, reviews and vouches between members.
The app keeps evolving, so features may be added, changed or removed.
5. The help happens between you, not through us
- Kattkompis does not broker services and is not a party to what you agree between yourselves.
- People who help do so voluntarily and without payment. We are not an employer and take no commission.
- We do not run background checks on users. Meet first, show them around your home, and do not hand keys to anyone you are not comfortable with.
- You are responsible for your own arrangements, for any damage, and for having the insurance you need.
6. Lost-cat alerts and public content
- A lost-cat alert is made to be shared. The alert page can be opened without an account and passed on.
- Other users see an approximate area on the map, but the photos and text you write are shown as they are.
- We do not publish the alert on the Kattkompis Facebook page on our own initiative. That only happens if you choose to pay for an ad (section 8).
- Only upload photos you have the right to use, and leave out details you do not want public, such as your exact address or other people's names.
- Mark the alert as resolved once your cat is home, and it stops being shared.
7. Content, reviews and vouches
- You keep the rights to the photos and text you upload.
- You give us the right to show your content in the app, and for lost-cat alerts also outside the app where the alert is shared, for as long as the content is up.
- If you remove the content we stop showing it. Anything already spread, such as an ad or a post someone shared onward on Facebook, may remain with Meta and with whoever shared it.
- Reviews and vouches must be honest and based on something you experienced.
- We may remove content that breaks these terms or the law.
8. Paid Facebook ad for a lost-cat alert
You can choose to pay for an ad about your lost-cat alert. It is shown on Facebook and Instagram to people near where your cat went missing. It may run as an app-install ad for iPhone users, with a button that installs Kattkompis and opens the alert in the app. It is entirely optional, and the alert in the app reaches the same neighbours without an ad.
- The price is shown in the app and includes any VAT. You pay by card through Stripe, who handle the card details, never us.
- The amount decides how wide an area the ad covers. The ad runs for seven days on Facebook and Instagram, either as an ordinary ad about the alert or as an app-install ad for iPhone users, and we choose the format.
- The number of views is an estimate, not a guarantee. All ads are reviewed by Meta and we do not control their decision.
- You have a 14-day right of withdrawal. The ad starts as soon as Meta has approved it, because by paying you expressly ask us to start right away. If you withdraw before it has started you get the full amount back. If you withdraw while it is running we stop it and refund the part of the amount that matches the days left. Once the ad has finished running there is no right of withdrawal left. How to withdraw is at the end of section 9.
- If the ad cannot run, for example if Meta rejects it, we refund the full amount. If your cat is found while it is running we pause it, and if you get in touch you get the unused part back.
- Stripe emails you the receipt right after payment, and we email you a confirmation with information about the right of withdrawal.
9. Supporter membership
As a supporter you help Kattkompis keep going and reach more neighbours. You get a heart on your profile and no ads in the feed. It is entirely optional, and everything you need to help or get help is free anyway.
- The price is shown before you pay and includes any VAT. You pay through Stripe, who handle the card details, never us.
- The membership lasts one year at a time and renews automatically every year until you cancel it. You can cancel whenever you like under Supporter in settings, in the app or on the web, or by emailing us, and it then runs to the end of the year without renewing. You get a reminder a month before it renews.
- Gold is the same membership with a gold heart on your profile, at a higher price. It renews the same way.
- You have a 14-day right of withdrawal from the purchase. If you withdraw within 14 days you get the full amount back and the membership ends straight away.
- If you became a supporter with "Monthly" or "Forever" before the yearly membership, it carries on as before. A monthly membership renews every month until you cancel it, and "Forever" lasts for as long as Kattkompis exists.
- How to withdraw from a purchase, ad or supporter membership: tap Withdraw from contract here at the bottom of settings (Profile, then Settings). There you see your name, the purchase and where the confirmation of receipt is sent, and you confirm with the Confirm withdrawal button. You get a confirmation of receipt with the time straight away. You can also email the contact address in section 15 or use the withdrawal form in section 15. After every purchase we email you a confirmation with this information. Stripe emails you the receipt, and if you are a supporter you can also find it under Supporter in settings.
10. Community rules
These are not allowed on Kattkompis:
- Harassment, threats, hateful language or discrimination.
- Fake profiles, fake alerts or misleading information.
- Spam, advertising or unsolicited commercial messages.
- Illegal, offensive or otherwise inappropriate content.
- Selling services or animals through the app.
- Scraping data, circumventing security or otherwise abusing the platform.
11. Limitation of liability
- The service is provided as is. We cannot guarantee that it is always available or free of errors.
- We are not responsible for what users write, do or agree with each other.
- For a paid ad, our liability is limited to the amount you paid for that particular ad.
- Nothing in these terms limits the rights you have as a consumer under mandatory law. If you are a consumer living in another EU or EEA country, the mandatory consumer protection rules of the country where you live also apply.
12. Suspension and deletion
- You can delete your account at any time under settings.
- We may suspend or remove accounts that break these terms, without warning in serious cases.
- When an account is deleted your profile is removed. Messages may remain with the person you wrote to, and payment records are kept for as long as Swedish accounting law requires.
13. Complaints and disputes
Contact us first, most things are sorted straight away. If we cannot agree you can turn to the Swedish National Board for Consumer Disputes (arn.se). If you live in another EU or EEA country, the European Consumer Centre in your country can help you for free. Swedish law applies to these terms, but if you are a consumer living in another EU or EEA country, the mandatory consumer protection rules of the country where you live also apply.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will tell you in the app about significant changes. Continuing to use the service after that means the new terms apply.
